As a Caregiver with A Special Sitter, you will have an opportunity to impact the life of a child or young adult with a disability by being a friend and role model, assisting with homework, and participating in activities such as visits, outings, and trips.
In addition, you will impact the life of the family by being ready to help out around the house assisting with meals and cleaning up meal-related items, with light housekeeping tasks, and accompanying clients on appointments.
For those clients we serve before and after school, you may be asked to assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
Essential Job Requirements:
You must be CPR certified
You must be at least 19 years old or older
You must have your own reliable transportation
Possess a valid driver's license and valid auto insurance
Ability to speak and hear English clearly in person and on the telephone
Ability to read and write English
Ability to lift, push or pull 60 pounds
Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel and reach
Ability to consistently provide physical assistance to a client (i.e. stand-by assistance while walking, assist client with transfers)
Complete a criminal background check, DMV check, and pre-employment drug screen
Ability to treat and care for clients and their property with dignity and respect
Ability to adapt to various living environments and locations
Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner
Our Caregiver's are:
- Individual trained or training to work with special needs children.
- Studying to be a nurse, OT/PT, or a teacher.
- First-Aid and CPR Certified
- Understands their role in strengthening your family by providing you a break from your normal duties.
- Interviewed and background checked.
- Receiving on-going training
- Respite provided in the house
